It gives me immense pleasure to extend my warm greetings and heartfelt invitation on behalf of the West Bengal Poultry Federation to all stakeholders of the poultry fraternity as we prepare for the 13th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2027.
West Bengal's poultry industry continues to script an extraordinary success story, transforming rural livelihoods, generating employment, and contributing significantly to the state's economy. Today, West Bengal proudly retains its position as India's leading producer of chicken meat, contributing nearly 13% of the country's total chicken production. The state has consistently maintained one of the highest growth rates in poultry meat production, reinforcing its position as the poultry capital of Eastern India.
Our achievements in egg production have been equally commendable. West Bengal is now among the top four egg-producing states in India, contributing over 11% of the nation's total egg production. With sustained double-digit growth over recent years, the state continues to strengthen its self-sufficiency while creating new opportunities for value addition, processing, and exports.
For more than a decade, the West Bengal Poultry Federation, in collaboration with the Animal Resources Development Department, Government of West Bengal, has successfully organised the Kolkata International Poultry Fair, which has evolved into Eastern India's largest and most influential poultry exhibition and knowledge-sharing platform. The overwhelming success of the 12th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2026 reaffirmed the growing importance of this event, bringing together thousands of farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, academicians, policymakers, industry leaders and international delegates under one roof.
One of the most inspiring highlights of the 12th edition was the launch of the NextGen Conclave, a first-of-its-kind initiative dedicated to the next generation of poultry entrepreneurs. The conclave witnessed enthusiastic participation from young business leaders, start-ups, innovators and successors of established poultry enterprises who exchanged ideas on technology, sustainability, entrepreneurship and the future of the industry. Their energy, vision and commitment demonstrated that the future of Indian poultry is in capable hands.
Building on this remarkable success, the 13th Kolkata International Poultry Fair 2027 aims to make the NextGen Conclave even larger by welcoming greater participation from young entrepreneurs, students, start-ups and emerging business leaders from West Bengal, the North-Eastern region and neighbouring states including Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Sikkim and beyond. We firmly believe that empowering the next generation today will ensure a stronger, more innovative and globally competitive poultry industry tomorrow.
The upcoming edition of the fair will once again serve as a dynamic platform for showcasing cutting-edge technologies, modern farming practices, automation, genetics, nutrition, animal health, processing, value addition and sustainable poultry production. It will provide unparalleled opportunities for networking, business collaborations, investment, technology transfer and knowledge exchange among stakeholders from India and abroad.
As the poultry sector continues to evolve rapidly, collaboration has become more important than ever before. The Kolkata International Poultry Fair is not merely an exhibition—it is a movement that connects ideas with opportunities, experience with innovation, and tradition with the future.
